Meet CHIP. Keep your options open.

CHIP is a digital finance platform for Malaysian businesses. This guide focuses on CHIP Collect, its payment collection offering. Start with your sales channel, then compare payment costs, integration effort and your customers’ preferences.

Our take: a useful option to evaluate for SMEs that want local payment methods and a choice of no-code links or website integration. Suitability depends on your business and CHIP’s approval.

RM / SME

What do the fees mean for your orders?

The same payment method can represent a very different share of a RM10 order and a RM500 order. These worked examples translate the published rates above into ringgit.

Illustrative fee per successful online payment (MYR)
Order valueFPX B2CLocal credit cardOnline QR
RM10RM1.00RM0.20RM0.15
RM50RM1.00RM1.00RM0.50
RM100RM1.00RM2.00RM1.00
RM500RM1.00RM10.00RM5.00

For a RM10 order, the RM1 FPX fee equals 10% of the sale. At RM100 it equals 1%. FPX and a 2% local credit-card fee are equal at RM50; FPX and a 1% online QR fee are equal at RM100. Compare cost alongside the ways your customers prefer to pay.

Calculations: FPX B2C = RM1; local credit card = order value × 2%; online DuitNow QR = the greater of order value × 1% or RM0.15. Examples exclude applicable taxes and any other charges. They are illustrations, not a quote or a settlement forecast. Check current CHIP pricing

Is CHIP a good fit for your SME?

Start with the way you sell and the work involved in getting paid. These are our selection considerations, not a promise of approval or a comparison of every provider.

Worth considering when…

  • You sell through chat or social media

A payment link can let you request payment without building a complete online store. Decide how you will match each payment to an order.

  • You operate a WooCommerce store

Evaluate the official plugin with your theme and checkout extensions. Allow time to test paid, failed and refunded orders.

  • You want local payment options

Check which methods your customers actually use. Estimate costs using your average order size and expected payment mix.

Check more closely when…

  • Your orders are very small

A fixed fee can consume a larger share of each sale. Use the examples above and include your own margins in the decision.

  • You need a particular settlement schedule

Confirm timing for each method, bank processing and your merchant terms before relying on the funds for supplier payments.

  • You need complex billing or a custom platform

Confirm your exact requirements with CHIP and your developer. Budget for integration, verified payment notifications, refunds and ongoing maintenance.

How this guide makes recommendations

We use linked official product documentation and pricing, then show our own arithmetic and business examples. Examples are hypothetical; we have not run live merchant transactions to validate settlement timing. Referral commission does not change the assumptions shown here. We do not award scores or claim CHIP is the best provider for every business.

05 / FAQ

A few things worth knowing.

Is this the official CHIP website?

No. Malaysia Payment Guide is an independent affiliate information website. CHIP provides the payment service and handles merchant applications.

Do I need a website to use CHIP?

Not for payment links. CHIP lets you share a payment link with customers through chat, email or social media.

Can I use CHIP with WooCommerce?

Yes. CHIP publishes an official WooCommerce plugin. Check the current plugin documentation and test compatibility with your store.

Which payment gateway is best for an SME in Malaysia?

There is no single best choice for every business. Compare the methods your customers use, total fees, settlement needs, integration effort and support. This page covers CHIP; it is not a market-wide ranking.

Are transaction fees the only cost to check?

No. Review the complete current fee schedule and your merchant terms, including applicable taxes and any refund or chargeback costs.

Can I start accepting payments immediately?

Do not assume instant approval. Your application, enabled methods and launch readiness depend on CHIP’s onboarding and your setup.

Your business. Your next payment.
